The pictures above are computer scans of original oil paintings done by Frank Rugebregt. Using a Macintosh computer and Apple ColorOne scanner, the paintings were recorded and saved as computer files. The original scans contain nearly 2 million bytes (2MB) of data each. The exceptions are the first two paintings which are scans of photographs.

For posting on the web, the image size and color depth has been reduced and the files compressed using the jpeg file format. The resulting scans are approximately 60 - 85 thousand bytes (60-85k) each. Some image quality is lost with the compression.
